The European Conference on e-Learning was established 24 years ago. It has been held in France, Portugal, England, The Netherlands, Greece and Portugal to mention only a few of the countries who have hosted it. ECEL is generally attended by participants from more than 40 countries and attracts an interesting combination of academic scholars, practitioners and individuals who are engaged in various aspects of e-Learning. Among other journals, the Electronic Journal of e-Learning publishes a special edition of the best papers presented at this conference. 

ECEL 2026 is being hosted by Lund University, Denmark. This conference will also host the 12th e-Learning Excellence Awards.

Personal Message from the Conference Chair

We are pleased to welcome you to the European Conference on E-Learning 2026. On behalf of Lund University School of Economics and Management, and the Department of Informatics, we invite you to join us in exploring the rapidly evolving landscape of digital learning. This year’s conference highlights the transformative potential of emerging technologies, as well as innovative educational models that reshape how we teach and learn. Together, we will engage in thoughtful dialogue on key themes such as pedagogy, societal impact, AI in education, privacy, the digital divide, inclusion, diversity, and sustainability in the digital age. We look forward to your insights and contributions, and to collaborating in shaping the future of digital learning and training, enhancing opportunities to empower learners and educators.

We are planning to run our series of conferences as physical events with the option for participants to join virtually. Conference Publications

Papers accepted for ECEL after the double-blind peer review process, will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration and payment. Proceedings are accessible here: https://papers.academic-conferences.org/index.php/ecel

The Editors of the Electronic Journal of e-Learning will make selections if they feel work is appropriate and of sufficient quality for the journal. If invited to publish in a journal authors will be expected to develop the work by 40-50%, including a change of title and abstract. Individual journal procedures will need to be followed and there is no guarantee of publication.

The ECEL conference proceedings are published with an ISSN (2048-8637) and an ISBN will be issued on publication. These proceedings are:

The Conference Proceedings are submitted for accreditation on publication. Please note that depending on the accreditation body this process can take up to several months.
